The Best New Designers in America

Assembling the Team. Named after the French military term for alias, this design collective comprises four players: Isa Saalabi, seated, formerly of Marc Jacobs; ex-W editor Holly Harnsongkram, standing center left; Wil Whitney, DJ, top; and graffiti artist Devon Turnbull, far right.

Starting Up. In 2001, Saalabi and Harnsongkram opened ISA, a store in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn that showcased young, cutting-edge designers. The now defunct store spawned a spin-off shop, Nom de Guerre, in Manhattan.

The Clothes. Downtown New York meets backwoods Maine. Cotton sweaters, premium denim, fleece hoodies, military inspired jackets, cotton and corduroy button-downs- a complete wardrobe of basics for guys looking to amp up their evening and weekend staples. – Andy Comer
